What a fun week it has been! I hope what I have posted for Scrapbook Week has helped you all feel a little less stressed about scrapbooking and excited to start! I am still an amateur and not perfect at everything {especially Photoshop, but I am learning and there is a tutorial for everything}. Most important to me is to just get it in a book to preserve the memories and actually have books for my children to look at!!
Here is a message from Shauna that I receive….Thanks Shauna! Yes that is true, there is a lot more space to journal on your own. You don’t even have to do the journaling in Smilebox and it will save it blank, and then you can pick your font and fill more space in Photoshop.
“I just got started using Smilebox after your great post earlier in the week. Something else to note when you use Smilebox, Photoshop and Blurb together is that there is usually lots of room on the Smilebox page to add more text. I find that I save my layouts, open them up and do more journaling in Photoshop and then flatten it and save it again. Then I import it into Blurb and it not only looks great but it has the journaling I want. Thanks again Kendra for these posts. I am so excited to get caught up again. “
”Also, a question, when you save, you have to save the whole scrapbook album thing from Smilebox right? There's not a way to save just the one page that you used from the theme album?”
And to answer your question, Smilebox has Albums for all their pages and there are between 5-10 pages per album. When you download the album to jpg it saves the whole album to your folder even if you just used 1 or 2 pages. Just delete the ones you didn’t use. There is no way to save just one page.
So here is a basic run down.
- Read here on how to organize your digital photos
- Find a photo editing program: something like Adobe Photoshop (PS), Adobe Photoshop Elements (PSE), Memory Mixer or any kind of program that supports .png files & layers. such as this, this or this.
- Download Smilebox {Free until you want to print the jpg’s then it is 5.99 a month or 39.99 a year
- Download Blurb (also known as Booksmart) {Free}
If you have any questions email me or leave a comment with your email address!
